Angels Den

They have a very thorough process. You don't get accepted until you have proven the viability of the business, so angels know that they are only looking at high quality start ups.

We chose Angels Den because of their strong reputation in the early-stage funding space, and one of the main positives is that they’re very selective; getting onboarded is in itself a strong proof of concept. The setup process was also relatively smooth and well-structured. That said, once we were onboarded, we felt a bit left on our own. We were told the campaign would be shared with their investor network, but that only happened towards the end of the campaign, and we’re not entirely sure how it was shared. We didn’t have visibility into their newsletter or access to basic engagement metrics (like number of subscribers or opens). In our specific case, it may have been a timing issue, and unfortunately, things didn’t work out as well as we’d hoped, but we did see other successful campaigns on the platform. There’s potential with them, but it seems a bit hard to predict what level of traction you’ll get once you’re live.

The process started off well with regular communication—until we paid the onboarding fee. Shortly after, we closed our round and no due diligence had begun, but Angels Den refused a refund or to defer the fee to a future raise. When we returned for our next round, communication was slow and unresponsive. Ultimately, we were declined due to a shift in investor focus, despite no meaningful effort on their part. Overall, it felt unfair and left a bit of a sour taste.
